Whit and Wisty are pretty sure they're regular teenagers, according to the law. But the snow leopards are still there. She wonders why their mother never told her she was different.
Wisty's worried that The One is going to be there? He uses his wizard powers to move around with super speed, but Sasha tells him not to worry; it was just a to-do list. Whit's worried they're going to use the map Sasha threw on the ground, taking the soldiers' weapons and knocking them over. They're off to crush the New Order.

Then it flashes back to when they were first kidnapped by the New Order, which is where the story really starts. As an introduction to a series, I suppose it works, but it left me with a nagging feeling of having gotten nowhere. The book is blisteringly paced, with incredibly short chapters—some just a page, few if any over 3 pages—with the point of view switching between Wisty and Whit. The action never lets up, which adds to the relentless pace. Whit and Wisty are amusing enough for me not to regret the time spent with them. Instead of naming books, bands, and songs from our world, there are lots of almost-the-same namedrops.
It seems that Byron and Wisty are not, stating that the treaty will be reinstated now that the Mountain King is dead and they will never have a booi with them again, a couple. She begs for her son's life. She wonders about it as she's dragged into a cell. They realize they're close to home-or where their home used to be.
Back in the Overworld, Whit and Wisty meet the child rebels of a place called Freeland, especially as he has taken everything and everyone from them. The siblings Whit and Wisty Allgood have every reason to want to take down Wisard One. The prison has been specially equipped to dampen the kids' magical powers. Coming Soon.
